Alberta & Northwest Territories Division

MS Ambassador Acitivities

These Ambassador Activities are geared at fulfilling the Alberta & Northwest Territories Division strategic plan.

  • Extended personal reach – Ambassadors help reach parts of the MS population not normally reached in other ways.

  • Consistent messaging – Ambassadors provide a focus on key MS Society messages.  Ambassadors help ensure the message is the same in every community and chapter throughout Alberta. Also, Ambassadors can deliver a message throughout the province far more effectively than brochures, websites and advertising.

  • Diversified fundraising – Ambassadors help secure large-scale financial assistance from government and business. By putting a human face on MS, Ambassadors attract community investment from these sectors.

  • Project support – Ambassadors help “warm the ground” before the launch of special projects, ensuring a good reception from community leaders and decision-makers.

  • Increased leverage – Ambassadors help create leverage by working in communities throughout Alberta to find champions, particularly inside government. For example, every MLA who talks to an MS Ambassador is potentially one more supportive voice in the Alberta Legislature.

  • Increased volunteerism – Ambassadors help recruit and retain volunteers. The also help attract attention to events and the need for volunteers. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the MS Society and are vital to the organization’s financial stability.

  • Improved and consistent governance – Ambassadors provide a talent pool for recruiting new Board members. This is important for succession planning and effective governance.

  • More responsive programming – Ambassadors help gather important information about community needs through conversations with stakeholders like clients, members and their families. This information helps the Society develop appropriate and responsive programs.

  • Increased peer support – Ambassadors help link those affected by MS with peers for support and guidance. This is an important wellness component of MS services.

  • Increased MS profile – Ambassadors increase the profile and visibility of the MS Society and Multiple Sclerosis.
