Eating Well to Live in Balance with Multiple Sclerosis

Time: 10-3pm (with an hour break from 12-1pm)
Date: Wednesday, May 28th
Location: MS Society multipurpose room

This workshop will present information on nutrition which is based on research and clinical success for living in balance with MS. Robin will talk about foods you would be best to avoid and foods that promote healing and vitality in the body. She will talk about fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins and fats. She will also share recipes that she uses to cool healthy food and some of her strategies to ensure that the body is getting maximum nutrients to heal on a deep level. There are many people who are living well with MS and this workshop will give you the means with which to do just that.

(Dr. Robin Vinge, Naturopathic Doctor who has had MS for 22 year will be conducting the workshop

Transportation Strategy

Alberta Transportation is busy working on a Transportation Strategy for the next 50 years in Alberta. The strategy will be focusing on all forms of transportation, connections and ways to move people and goods throughout the province. It will also provide guidance and direction to the government when making decisions on transportation investments, policies and programs.

MS Connections Conference- September 19 & 20, 2014

The Calgary & Area Chapter is hosting the 2014 MS Connections Conference at the Telus Spark Centre. The conference will begin Friday afternoon, with a Pre-Conference Symposium, which will be open to the public. The focus for this session is the Continuum of MS Care in Alberta.

Dr. Gabor Mate is our keynote speaker on the Friday evening and is a renowned speaker and bestselling author of "When the Body Says No." He is highly sought after for his expertise on a range of topics including addiction, stress and childhood development.

Saturday will be the full day conference with a theme of living well with MS. Conference topics include physical activity, Cognition& MS, Neuroimmunology: Understanding Your Medications, research and a motivational speaker.

Early bird registration will open in Mid-April.


Annual Caregiver Retreat- April 25-27, 2014

The Annual Family Caregiver Retreat weekend is an opportunity for non-paid family caregivers of persons with MS to develop a support network with others who share similar experiences.

Who: Family members over the age of 18 who have a family member with MS
Where: Ramada Inn & Suites, Canmore, Alberta
When: Friday April 25th - Sunday April 27th, 2014
Cost: $150 per person (single room), $125 per person (double room), $100 per person under the age of 25 sharing a room

Your registration includes accomodation, some meals, and speakers.
