Program & Client Services Volunteers

As a nonprofit agency, everything we do relies on the energy and expertise of volunteers. Our program and Client Services Volunteers assist with many roles from recreation programs, to MS presentations, and peer support groups. Volunteers are needed to visit those clients in continuing care centers who are unable to come to the programs offered at the Society office.

Recreation Programs and Special Events

These volunteers ensure the smooth operation of various client services events such as Holiday Parties, Kids Camp, BBQ’s etc. Tasks may include scheduling, set up and tear down, food preparation etc.

Peer Support Groups

The peer support group provides an outlet for those with MS. Peer support volunteers will often aid a group facilitator by helping with scheduling and other tasks relevant to the operation of the program.

Friendly Visitation Program (Training Provided)

Friendly visitors play a role in alleviating feelings of isolation and boredom in those afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis can be a debilitating illness leaving people feeling isolated and a little lonely. A few hours a month with a friendly visitor can make a world of difference to someone living with MS. Often all that is involved is chatting with someone over a coffee or a pop, but it can have a valuable impact on a person with MS. Friendly visitors require good organization and communication skills and must like to meet new people.
