Funding

The MS Society of Canada, Atlantic Division, is dedicated to providing quality programs, services and up-to-date information for individuals and families affected by MS. Our Funding Programs are designed to address basic quality of life issues being faced by persons living with MS.

Being Well with MS
The Atlantic Division is pleased to announce a new funding program for people with MS and their caregivers. This new program is intended to assist you with participation in activities or programs that will contribute to your emotional, spiritual, physical, mental or social well being and rejuvenation.

Equipment Provision Program (EPP) 

The EPP assists individuals in purchasing equipment specific to their MS needs.

What kind of equipment is funded?

  • Mobility and assistive devices
  • Minor home modifications
  • Bathroom equipment (accessibility and safety devices)
  • Equipment repair

How much funding is available?

  • The EPP funds to a maximum of $450.00 per applicant towards the purchase of equipment. A combined total of $600 is available per applicant for EPP and Special Assistance Program (SAP) funding.

Is there an application deadline?

  • There is not an official deadline; however, once funds have been depleted, the program will close until the following fiscal year. Our fiscal year runs from January through December. Applications will not be accepted once the program has closed.

How do I apply?

Download the EPP Application Form - English (French) or contact the Atlantic Division to speak with the Coordinator of Client Services for an application package or to clarify your application needs.

All applications must be accompanied by:

1. Completed and signed application form
2. A written recommendation for:
   a. Air conditioners, dehumidifiers or fans by a family physician or neurologist
   b. Mobility aids, assistive devices, orthotic devices, communication devices,        and minor home modifications by an occupational therapist
3. Two price quotes for the item
4. Confirmation of MS diagnosis for first time applicants.

Special Assistance Program (SAP)

The Special Assistance Program is designed to meet essential quality of life needs faced by persons with MS.

What is funded?

1. Incontinence and catheter products
2. Medical alarm services
3. Feeding tube supplies (excluding food)

How much funding is available?

  • The SAP funds to a maximum of $600.00 per applicant for equipment and special assistance.

Is there an application deadline?

  • There is not an official deadline; however, once funds have been depleted, the program will close until the following fiscal year. Our fiscal year runs from January through December. Applications will not be accepted once the program has closed.

How do I apply?

Download the SAP Application Form - English (French) or contact the Atlantic Division to speak with the Coordinator of Client Services for an application package or to clarify your application needs.

All applications must be accompanied by:

1. Completed and signed application form
2. A written recommendation for:
   a. incontinence supplies by a family physician or neurologist
   b. medical alarm services by a family physician, registered nurse, nurse               practitioner, occupation therapist, neurologist or social worker
3. Two price quotes for medical alarm services
4. Confirmation of MS diagnosis for first time applicants.

 

Emergency and Long Distance Transportation Program (ETP)

The ETP assists with the cost of travel related to:
   a. Transportation by ambulance due to MS medical emergencies
   b. Transportation by ambulance when MS disability leaves no other        transporation option
   c. Cost of long distance travel to medical appointments (more than 200 km one        way).

How much funding is available?

  • The ETP provides a maximum of $600. This program is independent of other funding programs of the MS Society of Canada, Atlantic Division.

Is there an application deadline?

  • There is not an official deadline; however, once funds have been depleted, the program will close until the following fiscal year. Our fiscal year runs from January through December. Applications will not be accepted once the program has closed.

Download the ETP Application Form - English (French) or contact the Atlantic Division to speak with the Coordinator of Client Services for an application package or to clarify your application needs.

All applications must be accompanied by:
1. A completed and signed application form
2. Confirmation of attendance
3. Receipts
4. Confirmation of MS diagnosis for first time applicants.
