Event Suggestions

1. MS Masquerade Ball
Laurie and Kevin Williams and Karl Bildstein organized a surprise masquerade birthday party for their sister/wife Lynn Bildstein to raise money and MS awareness. Eighty friends and family donned costumed and masques, bought event tickets and enjoyed the evening which included a raffle. Proceeds were donated to the MS Society in recognition of Laurie, her mom, grandmother and uncle, all of whom live with MS.


2. Shut out MS
Hockey celebrities and fans alike joined the Sigalet family and their fantastic friends on Saturday,July 10, 2010. The afternoon Shut Out MS charity game gave donors ice time with NHL players and top prospects. Steve Darling emceed the evening to present guest speaker Ken Hitchcock, Assistant Coach of the 2010 Men’s Canadian Olympic gold medal team, and keynote speaker Jordan Sigalet. A live auction including signed jerseys from NHL, NBA and MLB players added to funds raised for MS research, which totaled $60,000. Learn more about Jordan’s courageous story at www.shutoutms.com 


3. IBEW Golf Tournament
For over ten years, members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Engineers local 158 have organized a golf tournament in support of the MS Society. Each year the IBEW dependably raises $8,000 and more in support of the MS Society’s mission to fund MS research and enhance quality of life. 4. The Open Road Auto Group “Grouse Grind Challenge” team raised over $3,000 to support the MS Society mission. Pictured are members of the Open Road Auto Group team who climbed the famous 1.8 miles (2.9km) trail, up 2,800 feet (853 m) and trooped up the Grind’s 2,830 stairs.


5. New Year welcomed at the Watermark
McGregor Wark, Shafiq Vallani and Dave Major planned another great new year’s eve event for 400 of their closest friends at the beautiful Watermark Restaurant on Kitsilano beach in Vancouver. The packed house entered the party on a red carpet to enjoy live music, DJ, dancing, casino and of course champagne. Their celebration welcoming in the year 2K9 raised $3,600 towards ending MS.


6. Drive Out MS. Stuart Davidson and Lerina Koornhof of Lamborghini Vancouver organized a second exclusive Drive Out MS Car Rally weekend in June to raise over $13,500. Beautiful cars and beautiful scenery were definitely a winning combination. Bev Matsu and Paula Springman accepted the donation on behalf of  the MS Society.
