National level awards
National President's Award
The President’s Award is the most prestigious award given by the MS Society. It is given to an individual with MS who has made valuable contributions to the MS Society of Canada. The successful candidate will have enhanced the influence and position of persons with MS within the Society through their own activities, either by encouraging others to take a role in the Society and/or by setting an example. The candidate will have also created greater public awareness of MS to the community-at-large. More information & nomination form.
National OPAL Award
The Opal Award for Caregivers was founded to recognize the contributions of those who are or have been caregivers to people with MS. The award was initiated to honour the dedication and devotion displayed by Jack and Minda Opal in supporting and caring for Evelyn Opal, a founding member of the MS Society. Since it was created in 1993, the award has captured the hearts of persons with MS, family members, volunteers and staff. More information & nomination form.
Nancy R. Perkins Award
Recognize a person who has made a significant contribution on a national basis over an extended period of time. Typically, the recipient will be a board member who is leaving active volunteer service to the MS Society of Canada. The contribution may have been made in any of the following areas: client services, public education, government relations, fund raising, research or administration. National Award of Merit, member
Recognizes an outstanding contribution by a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada in furthering the work of the MS Society on a national basis. The contribution may have been made in any of the following areas: individual and family services, public education, social action, fundraising, research or administration. National Award of Merit, non-member
Recognizes an outstanding contribution by a non-member [individual(s), group(s) or business(es) which do not have a direct affiliation with the MS Society of Canada in furthering the work of the MS Society on a national basis. The contribution may have been made in any of the following areas: individual and family services, public education, social action, fundraising, research or administration. Division President's Award
Recognize the valuable contributions, on a provincial or national scale, of persons with MS within the MS Society of Canada. The criteria for this award are based on the objectives of the James D. Wolfensohn Award of the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF). More information & nomination form.
Division OPAL Award
Established in 1993 by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada to recognize those who are or have been caregivers to people with multiple sclerosis and who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and caring.
The award was initiated to acknowledge the dedication and devotion displayed by Jack Opal and his daughter Minda in supporting and caring for Evelyn Opal, founding member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada,in her personal struggle with MS. More information & nomination form.
Division Award of Merit, member
Recognize an outstanding contribution by a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada in furthering the work of the MS Society on a provincial/regional basis. The contribution may have been made in any of the following areas: client services, public education, government relations, fundraising, research or administration. Certificates of Exceptional Achievement
Business/Corporation
Recogize
a private enterprise which contributes its business expertise or services to the MS Society. The nominee can be an individual (sole proprietor of a business) or a group. More information & nomination form.
Community Group
Defined as a group of people external to the MS Society and its events which contributes significantly to achieving the mission of the MS Society, such as 3rd party event organizers or partner organizations. More information & nomination form.
Media
Defined as any local (chapter or division wide) media group that significantly supports the MS Society such as newspapers, magazines or radio stations. More information & nomination form.
Service Volunteer
Defined as any person who volunteers their services in the chapter or division offices, at events or with programs. More information & nomination form.
