Awards: Tips for preparing a nomination
  • A minimum and maximum number of words for information/testimonials is noted for each award. See the specific nomination form for each award.

  • Provide concrete examples of your nominee's work, contribution or achievements. For instance, if the nomination says that “Jane Doe remains dedicated to services and programs for those affected with MS”, outline what those programs and services are and what she does. If the nomination reads that “Jane Doe continues, undaunted, in her activities”, outline the challenges she faces and how she is managing them.

  • Some awards require that a nominee have worked at a national level (meaning their contribution has impact for more than one division). Some awards are for people who have made an impact on a more local level. Make sure to include information that demonstrates the nominee's impact at the approriate level.

  • Please, no hand written submissions. Divisions are requested to type any submissions originating from chapters where volunteers may not have access to computers/typewriters.

  • Photographs of the nominee are welcome, so are are news stories or newsletter stories.

  • Letters of support are welcome (max 3 per nomination). Such letters may expose new information or clarify the impact of someone's contribution.

  • The committee reviewing the nominations retains the right to not make an award in categories where there are no approriate nominees.

  • Meet the recipients of the MS Society Awards. Sometimes reading about past nominees will help you think about how to present your nominee's contribution.

  • All nomination forms from chapters and units must be provided to the division awards representative: Suzanne.Jay@mssociety.ca or fax 604-689-0377. Nomination forms cannot be submitted by a chapter/unit directly to National Office.
