Eligibility
Criteria & Tips for Completing the Disability Tax Credit Form and the Appeal Process
To
be eligible for the Disability Tax Credit, you have to be certified
by a qualified person (a health care professionals which includes
medical doctor, occupational therapist, audiologist, psychologist)
that you are either:

Blind
or almost blind all the time, even with corrective lenses or
medication. The impairment must be prolonged.

Have
a severe and prolonged mental or physical impairment, which
makes you markedly restricted in basic activities of daily
living as defined by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA),
which administers the DTC.

Basic
activities of daily living are: seeing, walking, speaking,
perceiving, thinking and remembering, hearing, feeding and
dressing and eliminating bodily waste.
The
DTC can be claimed by persons of any age who meet the eligibility
criteria or the people who support them.
