Social
Action Committee
The Social
Action Committee is a standing committee established by the
Board of Directors of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada,
BC & Yukon Division. The Committee reports through its Chairperson to
the Board of Directors.
Approval
of social action plans and responsibility for their implementation
are the responsibility of the Board of Directors. The Committee,
through its Chairperson, represents the BC & Yukon Division on the National
Social Action Committee.
PURPOSE:
To identify social action issues which relate to
people with Multiple Sclerosis.
To recommend policy and advise on social action
at the Divisional level of the Society.
To develop and recommend strategies for changes in social
policies at the provincial level to the Board of Directors.
DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To recommend policy on social action to the Board
of Directors.
To identify social action issues at the provincial
level.
To plan, develop and recommend strategies related
to provincial social action issues.
To gather and disseminate information on social action
issues relevant to division and community activities.
To support social action activities at the community
level through information provision, co-ordination and communication.
To liaise with other B.C. organizations, other Divisions
of the Society and the National Office regarding social action
activities where deemed appropriate.
To increase awareness and foster a positive attitude
toward social action.

To be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life.
