Someonelikeme.ca

Following a research project at the MS Society of Canada in 2009 looking at social innovation and youth, the Society acknowledged and concluded that their traditional service delivery model did not fully capture, engage or support youth in a comprehensive and age-appropriate way.

They set out on a course to change that and in late early 2010 began developing an MS youth strategy to address ways in which they could better support Canadian youth impacted by multiple sclerosis. Since that time, the MS Society has identified a new MS youth ambassador, Aaron Solowoniuk who is the drummer from the band Billy Talent. Aaron is a philanthropist, fundraiser and agent of social change who is passionate about the MS cause.

Let's Talk MS

Have you ever found yourself looking for specific information about multiple sclerosis in the family? Do you ask questions about the disease that no one else can answer, except for maybe someone else living with MS? Do you have feelings and thoughts about your parent’s MS or about parenting with MS that no one else around seems to experience?

Let’s talk MS for Kids

Let’s Talk MS for Teens

Let’s Talk MS for Parents

Developed by the Manitoba Division of the MS Society of Canada, these sites are unique in the cyber world, offering message boards and chat rooms for children and teens who have a parent with MS, and for parents living with MS. The sites are rich with information and support, with age-appropriate language and illustrations.

Post any questions you may have on the message board or if you happen to know the answer to one of the questions already posted, you can reply right away. All questions and replies are posted within 24 hours (during working days).

Chat rooms provide an opportunity to exchange messages in real time. You can talk about the challenges faced by people living with MS and receive feedback from people in similar situations. An anonymous account ensures your privacy is protected. Parents can rest assured that their children are in a safe online environment. Both the message boards and chat rooms are monitored and reviewed by an MS Society staff person who ensures the appropriate nature of discussions. Please check the website regularly for chat room schedules.

Connect with other people who have common experiences and concerns! After all, no one knows more about MS than other people living with it.
