Research Institute; Director, MS Research Clinic, The Ottawa Hospital-General

Pain is a common symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS). Those who experience pain feel its effects on their daily life activities, including their mood. For many persons living with MS it may be difficult for them to find the right words to describe the pain they experience. Pain is a complex sensory symptom and should not be ignored. Assessing the type and cause of pain is important to appropriate pain treatment. Symptom management is based on the type of pain that is experienced.
