Multiple
Sclerosis Society of Canada selects Fleishman-Hillard
March
29, 05 – Toronto: The Multiple Sclerosis Society of
Canada has selected Fleishman Hillard as its public relations agency
of record. Fleishman Hillard will provide strategic counsel to help
enhance the profile of the MS Society and increase its fund raising
potential.
In a related
announcement, the MS Society of Canada also appointed Stewart Wong to
the position of national manager, media relations. In addition to coordinating
national media outreach on behalf of the MS Society, he will also oversee
the Fleishman-Hillard relationship.
“Our
growing sophistication as an organization has led us to this point,” said
Deanna Groetzinger, vice-president of communications for the MS Society. “Our
goal is to serve as the primary voice on all MS-related issues
while simultaneously supporting our fund raising programs through the
media.”
The MS Society
of Canada is the only national not-for-profit organization
that funds research into the cause of and cure for MS while providing
services for people impacted by the disease. The MS Society’s
signature events include the Super Cities WALK for MS, RONA MS Bike
Tour, MS Carnation Campaign and the MS Read-A-Thon.
“The
MS Society of Canada already has a strong presence as a key player in
the Canadian not-for-profit sector,” said Linda Smith, Regional
Director of Fleishman-Hillard Canada. “We are looking forward
to taking this reputation to the next level.”
Wong has
worked at the MS Society of Canada for the past three and half years
in fund raising and marketing. Before joining the MS Society, he worked
with PR agency High Road Communications and prior to that, received
a post-graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College.
