FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada selects Fleishman-Hillard

March 29, 05 – Toronto: The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada has selected Fleishman Hillard as its public relations agency of record. Fleishman Hillard will provide strategic counsel to help enhance the profile of the MS Society and increase its fund raising potential.

In a related announcement, the MS Society of Canada also appointed Stewart Wong to the position of national manager, media relations. In addition to coordinating national media outreach on behalf of the MS Society, he will also oversee the Fleishman-Hillard relationship.

“Our growing sophistication as an organization has led us to this point,” said Deanna Groetzinger, vice-president of communications for the MS Society. “Our goal is to serve as the primary voice on all MS-related issues while simultaneously supporting our fund raising programs through the media.”

The MS Society of Canada is the only national not-for-profit organization that funds research into the cause of and cure for MS while providing services for people impacted by the disease. The MS Society’s signature events include the Super Cities WALK for MS, RONA MS Bike Tour, MS Carnation Campaign and the MS Read-A-Thon.

“The MS Society of Canada already has a strong presence as a key player in the Canadian not-for-profit sector,” said Linda Smith, Regional Director of Fleishman-Hillard Canada. “We are looking forward to taking this reputation to the next level.”

Wong has worked at the MS Society of Canada for the past three and half years in fund raising and marketing. Before joining the MS Society, he worked with PR agency High Road Communications and prior to that, received a post-graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College.
