Self-Help Groups

Self-Help Groups offer people living with MS, their families and friends the opportunity to give and receive emotional support from others who truly understand. They also provide valuable information that individuals may not access on their own. Groups meet throughout the province. For more information or to verify meeting times, please phone the contact person at your nearest group location (see below) or call Ellen Karr, Client Services Coordinator at 1-800-268-7582, in Winnipeg at 988-0917 or by email: ellen.karr@mssociety.ca

Help for Families

When an individual receives the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, there is a ripple effect through the entire family. Questions arise: How will this change our family life? Can starting a family still be possible? What changes will this mean to our relationship? How will this affect our children as they grow up? How and what do we tell our children? The MS Society offers support groups for well spouses and family members to help them cope with the many issues with which they are faced. For information on the group schedules, contact Ellen Karr at ellen.karr@mssociety.ca or 988-0917. There are also several helpful booklets on the subject which are available through the MS Society
