Income Support
The Insurance Working Group of the Social Action Committee was formed to address some of the many issues and concerns people affected by MS have with income support. To date, its focus has been on Canada Pension Plan (CPP) disability benefit and long-term disability (LTD) insurance. The following are some recent written examples of work done on this front:

Potholes and Roadblocks: Don't Give Up! - Script of Social Action Committee presentation on navigating the CPP Disability and LTD insurance maze
The above is a script of a presentation by the Insurance Working Group of the Social Action Committee. Using a series of different scenraios, the presentation educates people about dealing with different problems they may encounter, warns them about specific pitfalls and advocates for change. A videotape of the presentation is available for loan from the Manitoba Division library and at all chapter offices.

In response to a letter sent to all Manitoba MLAs, (see Documents ) introducing them to the MS Society of Canada, Manitoba Division and the concerns of Manitobans affected by MS, Jim Rondeau MLA wrote back requesting additional information about our activities regarding income security and disability insurance. This letter was sent in reply.

How to Meet the Challenges of Proving your Disability Insurance Claim
