Safety and Support

Along the route, there will be many staff and volunteers available to help you. Support and Gear (SAG) vehicles will be driving along the route. If you are having trouble, they can transport you to the closest rest stop for some basic bicycle maintenance or first aid. To flag down a SAG vehicle on the side of the road, please take off your helmet and hold it in the air.

Bike mechanics and first aid support will be available at each Start/Finish Location and many rest stops throughout the route.

Tour Leaders are fellow cyclists that have volunteered to help out on the ride. They provide you with cycling tips and support, as well as basic bike maintenance and first aid when needed.

If you have ridden in an MS Bike Tour before and would like to volunteer to be a tour leader please contact Allison Gulka for more information.

For your safety, please remember the following:

  • Take your bike to a bike shop for a tune-up/inspection before the Tours.

  • Wear a helmet.

  • MP3 players are not permitted on route.

  • Announce "on your left" while passing other cyclists.

  • The route is not closed to traffic. Please watch out for vehicles and obey all traffic laws.
