Volunteer

Gear up this summer and volunteer at one of the RONA MS Bike Tours 2011 in Ontario!

Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions, and we'll find something to fit your interests, skills, abilities, and schedule, both on site and on route. Be part of the excitement this year as participants pedal their way to the finish line!

Time: Morning
Description: Receive participant's donations, give out rider information, distribute t-shirts and club prizes or greet and give directions.
Special Considerations: Some check-in volunteers will be seated at all times.

Finish Line - Cheering

Date: August 13, 14, 21, September 11
Location: University of Waterloo, Prospect Park (Acton), Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: 10:30am - 4pm
Description: Stand or sit at finish line to cheer on cyclists.
Special Considerations: Rain or shine outdoors.

Finish Line - Food Station

Time: All day (Various times available)
Description: Assist in preparing food and assist cyclists with food and beverages.
Special Considerations: May be standing for an extended period of time.

Finish Line - Gift Bag Distribution

Date: August 14, 21, September 11
Location: Prospect Park (Acton), Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: 10am - 3pm
Description: Hand out gift bags to riders as they arrive.
Special Considerations: Position involves standing for most of the shift on August 21 in Niagara & September 11 in Toronto.

Finish Line - Massage Check-In

Date: August 13, 14
Location: University of Waterloo, Prospect Park (Acton), Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: 11am - 5pm
Description: Keep the massage area organized by maintaining a waiting line of participants for available massage therapists.
Special Considerations: Position involves sitting for most of the shift.

Finish Line - MS Bike Boutique

Time: Various
Description: Assist in selling MS Bike merchandise.
Special Considerations: Salesmanship and experience working with money an asset.

Logistics

Location: Along the route for Acton/Waterloo, Niagara, & Toronto Tours.
Time: All Day
Description: Ride along the route with logistic truck drivers and assist in dropping off and picking up supplies at checkpoints.
Special Considerations: Physical labour is involved for these positions.

Luggage Handler

Date: August 13, 14
Location: Prospect Park (Acton), University of Waterloo
Time: Morning & Afternoon shifts available
Description: Load & unload luggage on and off truck as directed. Unload and arrange luggage as directed at finish lines.
Special Considerations: This position involves medium/heavy lifting and standing/walking for extended periods of time.

Time: 6:30am - 8:30am [Toronto (September 11) is 7:45am - 10:30am]
Description: Direct traffic to parking spots.
Special Considerations: Standing outside rain or shine.

Passport Station

Date: August 14, 21, September 11
Location: Prospect Park (Acton), Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: Daytime
Description: Hand out passports to each participant and volunteers (separate passports for volunteers and cyclists). Stamp each passport with the applicable stamps.
Special Considerations: Position may involve standing for an extended period of time or sitting on a folding chair.

Time: All Day
Description: Taking photographs of cyclists at start, along route and at finish.
Special Considerations: Must have own digital camera to use.

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Description: Receive participant's donations, give out rider information, distribute t-shirts and club prizes or greet and give directions.

Description: Cut fruit, display beverages and greet riders as they arrive.
Special Considerations: Must bring your own lawn chair. Some standing required.

Description: Cheering participants along the route.
Special Considerations: Standing outside rain or shine.

Route Signage Take Down

Date: August 14, 21, September 11
Location: Along Routes
Time: Daytime
Description: Take down the route signs from posts along the route.
Special Considerations: Being able to use your own vehicle August 14 is an asset. A bike and back pack is an asset for August 21 (Niagara) and September 11 (Toronto). Physical labour is involved.

Scrambler and Silent Auction

Date: August 13, August 21, or September 11
Location: University of Waterloo, Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: Afternoon
Description: Set up donated items for cyclists to see. Answer questions and encourage cyclists to participate.
Special Considerations: Position involves long periods of standing.

Time: Afternoon
Description: Assisting in loading trucks, taking down tents, taking down fences and banners, collecting and disposing of garbage.
Special Considerations: Physical labour is involved.

Description: Welcome, congratulate and thank the Top Fund Raisers and Team Captains, assist with photos of teams, registration of teams, etc.
Special Considerations: May be standing for an extended period of time

Time: All day
Description: Drive with a partner along the route and pick up cyclist who needs transportation.
Special Considerations: Must have a valid drivers license (vehicle supplied). Certification in First Aid is an asset.
