Be an end to MS

Rev up your fundraising!

Fundraising is the key to finding a cure and helping those affected by MS. Use these tips to meet - and beat - your goal!

  • Get online. By logging onto your personal account, you will have access to exclusive fundraising tools. You can set up a personal webpage, track your progress and solicit and collect donations without leaving your home!

  • Pledge yourself first. Seeing your name and donation first on your pledge sheet or online personal fundraising page will tell other donors how committed you are to finding a cure.

  • Start early. Experienced fundraisers know that the sooner you start, the more you'll raise. You'll also build more momentum as MS WALK day approaches.

  • Just ask. Don't be shy and ask everybody and anybody. If you're fundraising online, you can also include the link to your personal fundraising page at the bottom of every email you send.

  • Speak to your HR department at work. Many human resources departments have gift-matching programs. You can double your total instantly!

  • Post a link to your online personal fundraising page on your Facebook and/or Twitter profile. Your friends will be able to link directly to your page and learn more about your fundraising. Include the tools on our Spread the Word page in your email signature, on email messages, and on your social media sites to encourage people to sponsor you or participate with in you the MS Walk.

  • Educate to motivate. New donors may not know about MS. Inform people about multiple sclerosis and how donated money funds research and helps families living with MS. If people don't know, they won't give.

  • Show your optimism. Tell potential donors we're close to finding a cure to put an end to MS. Your optimism is contagious!

  • Think business. If you know someone who owns their own business, ask for a corporate donation, which are normally larger than personal contributions.

  • Make it a work thing. Ask your boss if you can hold a raffle or bake sale at the office or place a coin box at reception to collect donations to put towards your fundraising.

  • Visit the MS Walk blog for more tips. We'll provide useful fundraising tips on everystepmatters.ca on a regular basis. Feel free to share your own suggestions as well!
