2012 Routes
In order to present you with extraordinary routes, Vélo Québec ÉVÉNEMENTS and the Quebec Division of the MS Society have worked very hard.
Quebec City – August 18 and 19, 2012 (450 participants)
Day 1: The tour will start in Pont-Rouge, heading for Ste-Catherine de la Jacques-Cartier and Shannon, where you’ll stop for lunch. Up to that point, the route is quite hilly, with occasional steeper climbs. From Shannon on, the route features some downhill rides until you reach the outskirts of Old Quebec. For this portion of the route, you will mainly be travelling on the Corridor des cheminots bike path. The final stretch will be fairly strenuous as you ride up to the Loews Concorde hotel through the streets of Old Quebec, which will give you a few good climbs. Until Shannon, the route will take you through some quiet rural areas. Then you will enter the suburbs of Quebec City, where you’ll ride on a bike path. Since the Corridor des cheminots runs through forested areas and a golf club, it won’t feel like a city ride.
Day 2: The route on day 2 will feature some wonderful views. You’ll take the magnificent Promenade Champlain along the river and the rocky walls of Quebec. You will then go over to the Chemin du Roy, a historic road that also offers some beautiful panoramas of the river. Among other things, you will cross several boroughs of Quebec such as Cap-Rouge and Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, as well as the towns of Neuville and Donnacona. The route will be hilly, with a few steep slopes, both uphill and downhill.

Trois-Rivières/Cap-de-la-Madeleine region – August 25 and 26, 2012 (1,250 participants)
Day 1: Leaving from Cap-de-la-Madeleine, you will head toward Trois-Rivières as you visit the municipality of St-Étienne-des-Grès to the north, and then the town of Saint-Barnabé. Experienced cyclists will have the option of an extra loop to visit Fred Pellerin’s stomping ground of St-Élie-de-Caxton. You will then head back down to Pointe-du-Lac to admire the river before moving on to downtown Trois-Rivières. The route is rather hilly but accessible.
Day 2: On the second day, you will head back toward Cap-de-la-Madeleine. Along the way, you will admire the Notre-Dame-du-Cap sanctuary. You will then ride alongside the river to Champlain, where you’ll enjoy some beautiful views. Then it’s off to Ste-Geneviève-de-Batiscan and back to Cap-de-la-Madeleine by quiet back roads. This day’s route will be quite flat with a few small ups and downs.
