Special Assistance Program

The MS Special Assistance Program assists people with MS to purchase designated services, aids or equipment that will help to increase independence and enhance their quality of life.

Individuals may apply for up to $300 for the current funding period of January 2012 - December 2012 for a variety of uses which include equipment and assistive devices, home air conditioning, counselling, child care, etc.

Regina and Saskatoon Chapter Children's Recreation Subsidy

The MS Children’s Recreation Subsidy helps kids (up to 18 years of age) affected by MS, by providing funding for opportunities for them to participate in social, education and recreational activities - $200 limit.

Regina and Saskatoon Chapter Recreation Subsidy for Adults
Program funds are intended to provide financial assistance to individuals with MS wanting to participate in activities to maintain and possibly restore their physical, mental and social capacities. Examples include, yoga, tai chi, cooking or crafting classes, etc. - $300 limit.

**NEW: Rural Recreation Subsidy (Adult and Children Programs)

New in 2012 is the launch of the Rural Recreation Subsidy for persons with MS who live outside Regina and Saskatoon. Individuals may qualify for up to $200 per calendar year. The Rural Children's Recreation Subsidy is to support children who have a parent with MS (up to 18 years of age); individuals may qualify for up to $100 per calendar year. Both programs are intended to provide funding support to enable the individual to participate in activities which enhance quality of life through recreation, exercise, socialization and education. Recipients are required to verify how program funds are spent.

Education Bursaries and Scholarships

Regina Chapter Bursary
Two $2,000 bursaries will be awarded for the 2012/13 school year.

Two $1,000 bursaries will be awarded for the 2012/13 school year.

Marlene Forden Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 in scholarship funds are available and will be awarded to individual(s) from rural Saskatchewan. Minimum $500 per person.

 

The deadline for all 2012 bursaries and scholarships is July 31st, 2012.

MS Caregiver Special Assistance Program

2012 CSAP Criteria

 

The purpose of this program is to assist the primary caregiver of a person with MS to purchase products, activities and/or services to enhance their quality of life through respite - $200 per person limit.

Acceptable uses would include: therapeutic massage, assistance with house and/or yardwork, etc.
