Funding Programs

  The MS Society of Canada - SK Division offers several funding programs for people affected by MS in Saskatchewan.

If you live in Regina and Saskatoon, you are eligible for community specific and provincial programs. Residents elsewhere in the province are eligible for provincial programs.

Provincial and/or Rural



Special Assistance Program

 

The MS Special Assistance Program assists people with MS to purchase designated services, aids or equipment that will help to increase independence and enhance their quality of life.

Individuals may apply for up to $300 for the current funding period of January 2012 - December 2012 for a variety of uses which include equipment and assistive devices, home air conditioning, counselling, child care, etc.

Caregiver Special Assistance Program

 

The purpose of this program is to assist the primary caregiver of a person with MS to purchase products, activities and/or services to enhance their quality of life through respite - $200 per person limit.

Acceptable uses would include: therapeutic massage, assistance with house and/or yardwork, etc.

Rural Recreation Subsidy

 

New in 2012 is the launch of the Rural Recreation Subsidy for persons with MS who live outside Regina and Saskatoon. Individuals may qualify for up to $200 per calendar year.

The Rural Children's Recreation Subsidy is to support children who have a parent with MS (up to 18 years of age); individuals may qualify for up to $100 per calendar year.

Both programs are intended to provide funding support to enable the individual to participate in activities which enhance quality of life through recreation, exercise, socialization and education. Recipients are required to verify how program funds are spent.

Marlene Forden Memorial Scholarship

 

Marlene Forden Memorial Scholarship

$1,000 in scholarship funds are available and will be awarded to individual(s) from rural Saskatchewan. Minimum $500 per person.

The MS Children’s Recreation Subsidy helps kids (up to 18 years of age) affected by MS, by providing funding for opportunities for them to participate in social, education and recreational activities.

Program funds are intended to provide financial assistance to individuals with MS wanting to participate in activities to maintain and possibly restore their physical, mental and social capacities. Examples include, yoga, tai chi, cooking or crafting classes, etc.
