Intern, Corporate Communications

(Internship, 21 hours a week)


Canada has one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis in the world, making MS Canada’s disease. The MS Society of Canada is the country’s leading MS advocate, funding leading research in MS and programs & services that help people live well with the disease.

Reporting to the Specialist, Corporate Communications, the intern, corporate communications will assist in the development of MS Society internal and corporate communications, with a special focus on President’s Office communications, the MS Society strategic plan communications launch strategy, and the upcoming endMS Conference.

The intern will be a key part of idea generation and execution of content intended for internal and corporate purposes, with a focus on major organizational initiatives.

As a member of the National Marketing and Communications team, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about various parts of the team by assisting in the writing, editing, and distribution of various communications.


Content Development and Project Management Support

  • Works with national marketing and communications team in the writing and project management of internal communications to support major initiatives including President’s Office communications, the MS Society strategic plan communications launch strategy, and the upcoming endMS Conference.
  • Assists in the creation of internal communications for a variety of channels.
  • Assists in the planning of video content for content and digital marketing.
  • Supports the development and deployment of responsive and just-in-time social media sprints related to special campaigns and relevant global days/celebrations (Canada Day, International Women’s Day, Giving Tuesday, etc.)
  • Provides coordination and logistics support to content development team.
  • Works with national marketing and communications team members on joint projects as required.
  • Supports media relations efforts as needed.
  • Other related duties as required.


  • Be enrolled in a university degree or community college diploma program with at least 1 year of experience in corporate communications, social media content management, marketing and media and public relations, or the equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in writing and adapting content for social media and online platforms
  • Excellent ability in listening, written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with internal and external constituents by telephone and face-to-face
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking to the creative process
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Detail and process oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Interest in learning new skills, expanding knowledge into new areas
  • Ability to work independently with deadlines, multiple projects, problem solving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook
  • Proficiency in social media platforms – Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Ability to speak French an asset

Special Considerations:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work
