Multiple Sclerosis and Memory Mississauga

When

Thinking skills (cognition) are often impacted by MS.  This 1.5 hour presentation will provide an overview of cognition in MS. with a particular focus on learning and memory.  We will discuss how memory works, lifestyle factors that improve memory and brain function and practical strategies to improve memory in daily life.

PRESENTERS:

Katherine Jongsma, Ph.D.
Katherine Jongsma is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Clinical Neuropsychology Service at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Windsor, and is currently under supervised practice. Her research interests include intimate partner violence and pornography consumption, and clinically she is interested in neuropsychology.

Michael Spilka, M.Sc.
Michael Spilka is a psychology resident at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and a Ph.D. candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Calgary. His clinical interest is in neuropsychology, and he conducts research into the neuroscience of schizophrenia.
