2017 AB & NWT Division Awards

The 2017 Alberta & Northwest Territories Division Awards are an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the outstanding volunteers who donate their time and expertise to help fulfill our mission. Please note the deadline for submitting nominations is Monday, June 18 at noon.

The Division Award recipients will be informed in July 2018; the Division Awards will be presented at the Ambassador Forum in Calgary in September 2018.

THE PRESIDENT’S DIVISION AWARD

The President’s Division Award recognizes an individual with MS who has made valuable contributions to the MS Society of Canada and/or encourages others to get involved with the MS Society. The successful candidate is someone who influences by setting an example of leadership and is creating greater public awareness of MS in the community at large.

MS AMBASSADOR AWARD

The MS Ambassador Award recognizes an outstanding contribution by a volunteer of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada in furthering the work of the MS Society in the community at large. The contribution may have been made in any of the following areas: programs and services, public education, government relations, fundraising or research.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Lifetime Achievement Award honours a dedicated, enthusiastic volunteer and recognizes lifetime achievement of an individual who has provided service to the MS Society over a substantial amount of years.

CAREGIVER AWARD

The Caregiver Award recognizes a caregiver who has provided exceptional support to an individual with MS while furthering the work of the MSSOC. This award was created to recognize the contributions of those who are or have been caregivers to people with MS.

YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Youth Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contribution by an individual (21 or younger) who is furthering the work of the MS Society in the community at large. The contribution may have been made in any of the following areas: programs and services, public education, government relations, fundraising or research.

CORPORATE RECOGNITION AWARD

The Corporate Recognition Award recognizes an organization or corporation which has aided the MS Society financially through sponsorship in terms of monetary, in-kind support or fundraising initiatives for MS Society events.

PHILANTHROPHY AWARD

The Philanthropy Award recognizes an outstanding individual, group or corporation who has supported the MS Society through the contribution of a substantial gift or by devoting an extensive amount of time and energy in securing major gifts or creating ‘door opening’ opportunities.

RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Research Excellence Award recognizes an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to MS research by furthering the mission of the MS Society in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and/or enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life. The nominee may have been recognized by the research community within a university or similar institution and must be currently enrolled in, or completing, either a Masters, PhD or doctoral program.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AWARD

The Community Partnership Award recognizes an non-profit organization or community association who has partnered with the MS Society and been active in direct services to an individual living with multiple sclerosis, their families and/or the community by helping those affected by MS in either wellness/programs and services and/or advocacy.
