Non-Profit Housing Program

Applicants may choose to apply for one building or many through the local co-ordinated access system. The more buildings applied for, the faster one will move up the list

Applicants must apply directly to the non-profit if a modified unit for people with disabilities is needed, or if there is no local co-ordinated centre

If applicant is disabled, they must be able to live independently or arrange for their own support, unless the supports are part of the services provided by the non-profit

Applicants apply for a subsidy at the same time as applying for housing

Services provided by the local co-ordinated access system may include:

  • Information about non-profit/co-operative housing, public housing and rent supplement options in their community
  • An application form
  • Assessment of eligibility for rent-geared-to-income assistance
  • Maintenance of a centralized waiting list
  • Determine the level of rent geared to income assistance an applicant may be entitled to
