Employer/Private Drug Plans

  • Financial Assistance
  • Health and Wellness

Insurance plans, whether obtained privately as an individual or through employment, vary greatly depending on the insurance company and the particular policy.

People with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis will generally not qualify when applying for a new private insurance plan due to a pre-existing condition.

People with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis may qualify for coverage through their employer only if the employer's plan allows for pre- existing conditions.

Some plans may cover extraordinary drug costs.

For the person with MS, it is important to know the details of their drug plan, as their plans coverage may be restricted.

For example, the plan:

  • May have an annual cap (limit)
  • May have a lifetime cap
  • May have a deductible
  • May only pay a percentage
  • May cover only specific drugs
