The mission of MDAO is to enhance the quality of life for all affected by mood disorders through support, information, education and advocacy. They have fact sheets on coping with depression and manic depression, seasonal affective disorder, coping tips for families, suggested reading list and FAQ's about support groups, resource books and a lending library with books and videos for members to borrow.

They provide support groups across the province for anyone dealing with a mood disorder and seeking support. MDAO also runs groups for family members and partners, women and youth ages 16 -29.
