Special Care Homes

  • Home Support and Accommodations

Provides institutional, long-term care services to people requiring more care and supervision than can be provided in their own homes. Facilities range from 10 beds to more than 500 beds, and are located throughout the province. Long-term care is provided in special-care homes and some hospitals. Long-term care residents pay an income- tested fee which is adjusted quarterly. Residents are responsible for personal supplies and prescription drugs. Residents in the Supplementary Health Program are eligible for additional health service.
