Chapter Services - Ottawa

  • Chapter Information

The Ottawa Chapter offers the following programs and services to people living with multiple sclerosis and their families.

Support Groups

Based on a "self-help" approach, the Ottawa Chapter brings people facing similar issues together so that they can share experiences and advice. Volunteers are recruited to facilitate regular meetings of these groups.

Individuals Diagnosed with MS: there are 7 groups that meet monthly (Ottawa, Renfrew, Pembroke)

Family or Friends who have a loved one with MS: there is a care partner group that meets monthly (Ottawa)

Social Activities

Friendly Visiting Program: This program aims to reduce social isolation and strength community connections by matching trained volunteers with people who have MS and live in long term care.

Diner's Club: Once per month, individuals affected by MS meet for dinner at a restaurant in the Ottawa area. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Coffee Social: This group meets monthly for an informal get-together at a local coffee shop. Geared to those aged 20 to 50.

Summer BBQ: Each year in July, members of the MS community in Ottawa gather for an afternoon to enjoy a free barbecue, live entertainment, and great company! This event is open to those diagnosed with MS or an allied disease as well as friends and family.

Summer Enrichment Program: Summer students organize group outings and activities for those affected by MS such as trivia nights or trips to local attractions like museums and festivals.

Holiday Party: Each December, members of the MS community are invited to join us for a holiday social with free food, entertainment, and a visit with Santa!
