Self-Help and Social Groups – South-Central Alberta

Looking for support in your community? Why not join a self help group? Self Help Groups are a wonderful way to connect to other people affected by MS to exchange information, share stories, learn from each other, and socialize.

There are many Self Help Groups across Southern Alberta. These Self Help Groups meet in the following communities:

Calgary & Area Chapter

Airdrie Multiple Sclerosis Support Group

Where: Bethany Airdrie
1736 1 Ave NW, Airdrie, AB T4B 2C4 Room: Sunroom
When: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:30pm – 8pm (except July, August and December)

Group Description: Community Support Groups provide people affected by MS with an opportunity to discuss common issues related to MS, including strategies for how to cope better with the disease. The group offers emotional support, information and practical help through the experience of others. Group is led by an MS Society volunteer who ensures a safe place to freely and confidently share and express oneself about any topic relevance without any judgment.

South-end Chill & Chat

Where: Quarry Park Co-op: upstairs cafeteria with elevator access.

When: 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7pm – 8:30pm (except July, August and December)

Group Description: An informal group that gathers on a monthly basis to talk and support each other. We share experiences, resources and just our time to listen to one another, all while making new friends. We leave with warm hearts every time we meet

Group is led by MS Society volunteer who ensures a safe and confidential space to participate.

Thursday Crafts & Conversation

Where: MS Society Office 150, 110 Quarry Park Blvd SE, Multipurpose room
When: 1st Thursday of each month (except June, July, August, and December) from 10:00am –12:00pm

Group Description: Crafting, coffee (or tea) and lively discussions!

Thursday Morning Coffee Break

Where: MS Society Office 150, 110 Quarry Park Blvd SE, Multipurpose room
When: 2nd Thursday of each month (except July, August, and December) from 10:00am –12:00pm

Group Description: May plays games like Bingo or Apples to Apples, trivia etc. Some of our group are highly competitive but there is always lots of laughs!

Thursday Self-Help Group

Where: MS Society Office 150, 110 Quarry Park Blvd SE, Multipurpose room
When: 3rd Thursday of each month (except July, August, and December) from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Group Description: We begin with round table to bring forward topics for group discussion. Our group brings years of combined experience and knowledge to share with newly diagnosed.

Thursday Afternoon Coffee Break

When: 4th Thursday of each month (except July, August, and December) from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Drayton Valley Self-Help-Group

Drumheller Self-Help-Group

Lacombe Table Talk

Michener Table Talk

Olds Table Talk

Red Deer Table Talk

Living Well with MS - Lethbridge

Group Description: This group is for younger individuals living with MS. Most individuals have been living with MS for less than 10 years, but all are welcome to attend. Casual meeting to discuss various topics related to MS.

Living Well with MS – Pincher Creek

Connecting Souls self-help group

Brown Bag Lunch support group
