BC Therapeutic Riding Association (BCTRA)

  • Social Gatherings & Recreation

BCTRA represents 17 member organizations that offer therapeutic horseback riding for people with disabilities. Therapeutic riding provides many benefits, such as developing mobility, concentration, balance, muscle strength, increased circulation, and decreased spasticity. Riders' experiences are physical, psychological, social, emotional, and educational as they develop respect and trust with a horse and fellow riders, acquire a sense of achievement, and develop confidence.

Riding organizations offer lessons as well as supervised rides. A physiotherapist or a head instructor assesses each rider to plan individual programs.
