The Ontario Building Code governs the construction of new buildings and the renovation and maintenance of existing buildings. It is developed and reviewed by the Building and Development Branch of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Each Municipality has a local office that enforces the Ontario Building Code and can provide advice on accessibility. Information on barrier free design/accessibility is under Section 3.8, Barrier Free Design of the Building Code.
